Distractions, Distractions, Distractions and a Vacation in the Adirondacks

It's been a few days weeks since my last post. There have been so many distractions around here lately, it has been impossible to get around to blogging. Vacations, garage sales (selling not buying), local festivals, grandchildren, rain, rain and more rain, cleaning, organizing, bills, life.... It's very aggravating.

Anyway,
My husband and I took a little mini vacation (we left on a Monday morning, came home Tuesday afternoon) around the Adirondacks.

I have so many great pictures but there is no way I can fit them all into one post. I'm trying to go through them all. I have over 200 pictures...hehe. I tend to take a lot of pictures when we are traveling around. Drives my husband nuts but he'll live.

This panoramic view is from the top of Mount Defiance overlooking Fort Ticonderoga. It's my first attempt at a panoramic. Not perfect but pretty much gets the point across of just how beautiful this view was.

 

 

Fort Ticonderoga was very cool. I love cannons so this place really spoke to me.
What I wouldn't give to have this fortress wall in my front yard.

Cannons in the mid morning sun. Who wouldn't stop to take a picture of this?? Huh? Name one person.

 

 Lots of stone and heavy artillery. 

 

I just wish the cannons had their original wheel bases.

 

The fort also allowed visitors to walk around the Kings Garden. Very pretty place.

 

 

We also visited Natural Stone Bridge and Caves in Pottersville, NY.
If you love water, rocks, trees, wooden bridges, caves, and a challenging walking surface, this is a very cool place indeed. With the exception of the walking surface, I loved this place alot. I could spend all day taking pictures here.

 

 

 

 

On day two we walked around Lake George for a little while. It was early morning on the off season so there wasn't much going on.

 

This is one of the cruise ships that tour the lake. The water was so quiet without all the usual summer boating traffic.

 The only moose sighting on the whole trip. Very disappointing.

All in all, the scenery was beautiful. The leaves were almost at their peak of color for the season.
